Research in the Centre for Endocrinology benefits from close links with one of the largest adult and paediatric clinical endocrinology services in the UK with a widespread national and international referral base and a reputation for outstanding clinical excellence.  This in turn attracts high calibre clinical trainees, many of whom progress to Research Training and Clinician Scientist Fellowships in Endocrinology with MRC, Wellcome Trust and other charitable support.  Our considerable basic and applied laboratory research activity is funded by the Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation and Research Councils among other bodies.  We co-ordinate the NESTEGG study, a cross-European study of the genetics of fetal and childhood growth failure, in addition to several other international collaborative projects.  Endocrinology occupies recently refurbished high quality laboratories in the John Vane Science Centre enabling close interaction and equipment sharing with other Centres in the WHRI. Core facilities within the Centre for Endocrinology include an LSM510 Confocal Microscope.
