Contact Details:

a.nissim@qmul.ac.uk.

Ahuva Nissim graduated in Molecular Immunology in 1992 from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and was trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the MRC Centre for Protein Engineering in Cambridge until 1995. During this period she developed phage display semi-synthetic human antibody library which has been used worldwide. In November 2000 she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the Bone and Joint Research Unit (BJRU) to develop a research program in molecular targeting. Her studies are interdisciplinary and involve translational research at the William Harvey Research Institute and with intensive worldwide collaborations. Her main research interest focuses on development of targeted immunotherapy to novel neoantigens produced specifically in diseased tissue. She has investigated the role of free radicals in generation of neoantigens in inflammation and developed a specific targeted immunotherapy to for the treatment of arthropathies. Her research interest has expanded to other autoimmune condition such as periodontal diseases. In parallel she is involve in the developing of novel phage display human antibody libraries for development of human antibodies for clinical applications. Financial supports from the Medical Research Council and Industry are gratefully acknowledged.
